Presented is a lot of three White House Historical Association Christmas Ornaments in original boxes from the collection of a former White House staff member. The first item in this lot is a 3 x 3½-inch gold metal ornament with red, white and blue enamel details showing a Colonial officer astride a white horse. Engraved below the figure is “Christmas 1991 The White House”. The ornament is hung from a red ribbon at the top and is displayed on a blue felt cardboard base inside a 5¼ x 6-inch red cardboard box. The lid of the box has a gold-stamped image of the ornament and the legend “Christmas 1991 The White House Historical Association.”
The second item in this lot is a 2½ x 3½ -inch gold metal ornament shaped like a Christmas tree, with red, white, blue and green enameled details including garland, gifts, flags and ornaments on the tree and a red ribbon at the top. The base of the Christmas tree is labeled “White House Christmas 2008”. This ornament is displayed in a black felt background with gold details on the edges, within a 5¼ x 6-inch cardboard box with a green, gold and white printed cover. The top lid has the legend “The White House Historical Association Christmas Ornament 2008” in white and gold type in the upper left corner, with a gold and white printed illustration of the ornament in the center. There is an eight-page pamphlet printed in green and gold on white paper describing the origins of the White House’s annual Christmas decorations.
