This lot closes on June 27, 2021 at 10:00 PM EDT for initial bids. Renowned sports artist Ron Lewis beautifully illustrated these five limited-edition #73, 74, 481, 482 and 519 out of 1000 art print posters depicting the 1961 World Series champion New York Yankees. Lewis perfectly captures the essence of the Yankees players in such rich and vivid detail that renders the art print poster almost lifelike. The 1961 New York Yankees season was one of the most memorable in the history of the franchise, with Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris engaged in a race to break Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record, with Maris hitting 61 to replace the Sultan of Swat as the single-season home run leader. The Yankees would post a record of 109-53 record en route to defeating the Cincinnati Reds in five games to capture the 19th World Series title in 39 seasons. The 1961 team is considered one of the best teams to ever step foot on a baseball diamond. The presented art posters feature 30-33 signatures in blue marker from members of the team including those of Hall of Famers Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford. Other signatures include manager Ralph Houk, pitching coach Johnny Sain, Tex Clevenger, Ralph Terry, Bob Hale, Rollie Sheldon, Johnny Blanchard, Moose Skowron, Joe DeMaestri, Al Downing, Bill Stafford, Art Ditmar, Ryne Duren, Jesse Gonder, Hector Lopez, and Earl Torgeson. The signatures are bold, and the art posters feature some creasing on the edges and have been rolled up. The lot of 5 1961 World Series champion New York Yankees art print posters signed by members of the 1961 New York Yankees come with a pre-certification from Beckett Authentication.
