Offered here is a collection of five New York Mets jerseys worn in the 1970’s. The first is a pinstriped button-down home jersey worn by Joe Pignatano in 1972. The Gil Hodges armband has been removed from the left sleeve. The jersey has “Mets” and Pignatano’s number “52” sewn on the chest and a second “52” sewn on the back, all in blue and orange tackle twill. This size “42” jersey shows moderate wear. Pignatano has signed the back in blue marker. A LOA from JSA accompanies Pignatano’s signature. The second jersey is a white button-down home jersey worn by Mike Phillips in 1975. The jersey has Phillips’ number “5” and “Mets” sewn on the chest in blue and orange tackle twill, and a second “5” sewn on the back in the same fashion. This size “42” jersey shows moderate wear. The remaining jerseys in this lot are all white pinstriped button-down home jerseys with “Mets” sewn across the chest in blue and orange tackle twill. These three jerseys are tagged with “43 72 2”, “42 73 23”, and “40 76 28”. The Pignatano jersey comes with a LOA from JSA. The entire lot comes with a LOA from noted game used expert Dave Miedema. This lot is a fantastic peek into the history of the New York Mets.
