There comes a rookie like Aaron Judge but once in a lifetime. Looking back on 2017 it’s clear just how extraordinary this young star’s first season truly was: 52 home runs which was three better than Mark McGwire’s record, his 33 home runs hit at Yankee Stadium was one better than Babe Ruth’s record. Pitchers were so feared by his power that he was issued more walks than any other rookie in history. Judge was named the AL’s Rookie of the Month for April, May, June and September and the AL’s Player of the Month for June and September. It was to no one’s surprise that he as unanimously selected as the American League’s Rookie of the Year.
Offered here are five game used baseballs used during Yankee games in Aaron Judge’s historic 2017 season. The first ball was used during the September 28, 2017 game when Tampa Bay Rays’ pitcher Jacob Faria threw this ball four times to Yankees’ batter Brett Gardner. The last pitch was thrown in the dirt for a ball, making it a 3-1 count before it was taken out of play. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB769815) and a Steiner Sports hologram (263436). The next two baseballs were used during the May 2, 2017 game between the Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. These baseballs display excellent game use and they come with individual MLB Authenticated holograms (JB727715 & JB727734) and a Steiner Sports holograms (246931 & 246930).
The next ball was used for five pitches during the April 19, 2017 game between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Tommy Layne threw five pitches with this ball in the top of the ninth inning to two batters – Cody Asche and Yolmer Sanchez. The ball was taken out of play following a foul ball in Sanchez’s at-bat. This ball comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB727699) and a Steiner Sports hologram (250373). The next ball was used in the July 31, 2017 game at Yankee Stadium between the Tigers and Yankees. The ball displays excellent use and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JC039480) and a Steiner Sports hologram (255816). Please note that there are no LOAs or COAs with these baseballs, only the official holograms from MLB Authenticated and Steiner Sports.
