Presented in this lot is a host of contracts and payroll checks from numerous sports dating to the 20th century. The first contract in this lot is the Hall of Famer Harry Howell’s contract with the New York Rangers for his rookie season of 1952-53. Howell played 17 of his 21 NHL seasons with the Rangers, winning the 1966-67 Norris Trophy while skating for the Blueshirts. Howell was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979. Howell has signed this contract in blue pen. This contract has also been signed by the Hockey Hall of Famer Frank Boucher in blue pen.

The second contract is for the Hall of Fame defenseman Ivan “Ching” Johnson’s 1938 season with the Minneapolis Millers of the American Hockey Association. Johnson was an original member of the New York Rangers and a two-time Stanley Cup champion. He rejoined the Millers in 1938 as a 40-year old player-coach, serving in that role for two seasons. Johnson has signed this contract in black fountain pen as “Ivan ‘Ching’ Johnson”. This contract has also been signed by Fred P. Hutchinson.

The final hockey contract in this lot is Randy Carlyle’s contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1979 to 1982. It includes his Norris Trophy season of 1980-81. Carlyle and Penguins GM Aldege Bastien have signed this contract in black pen. The fourth contract in this lot is from the Hall of Fame safety Paul Krause’s 1966 season with the Washington Redskins. Krause has signed this contract in blue pen, inscribing his address and phone number below his signature. This contract has also been signed by David Slattery. Also included in this lot are four payroll checks presented to football and basketball legends. The first check, dated to January 1st of 1964, is a $1,294.17 payroll check from the Philadelphia 76ers to Hal Greer. Greer has signed the reverse side of this check in black pen. The second check is a $1,000 check to Ray Jefferson dated to August 20th, 1970. The check has been signed by Dan Rooney in blue pen. This check comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (G77304). The third check is a $188.50 check to Ray Guy on an official Oakland Raiders check. The check, dated to July 24th, 1978, has been signed on the reverse by Guy in black pen. The final check in this lot is a San Diego Chargers payroll check for $4,491.66 to Charlie Joiner. It is dated to December 15th, 1989 and signed by Joiner on the reverse in black pen. This lot has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentication Services.
