After 17 years in the big leagues, Willie Randolph returned to New York, but this time traded his interlocking “NY” for the cross-town Mets.  The 1992 Mets team was supposed to be the future of New York championship baseballs when they added superstars Bobby Bonilla, Eddie Murray, Vine Coleman, Brett Saberhagen, and Randolph.  Managed by former New York Yankee Jeff Torborg the team also consisted of existing talent of Howard Johnson, Ace Dwight Gooden, and David Cone.  While in his final season of baseball Randolph made sure to capture the memories by getting a handful of baseballs in this group signed by the members of this team built for success.

This lot consist of (8) Team signed baseballs in various conditions mostly by the 1992 NY Mets with four of the baseballs in this lot coming from this team.  The baseballs include signatures totals of 25, 25, 25 and one with an impressive 33!  All four of these William White Official National League baseball include Hall of Famer Eddie Murray, Doc Gooden, Willie Randolph, and Bobby Bonilla.  Each of these baseballs has Jeff Torborg on the sweet spot and well as most members of the supporting cast of players.

After Randolph finished his playing career with the Mets, he went on to coach for the New York Yankees for 11 seasons from 1994-2004.  One of the baseballs in this lot is a Lee MacPhail Baseball that features a group of players from Willie’s early playing days with the New York Yankees and includes players like Bobby Murcer, Goose Gossage, Ron Guidry, Bert Campaneris, and Roy White as well as coaches Yogi Berra and Don Zimmer.

In 2005 Randolph saw an opportunity to return to his cross-town alliance the New York Mets when the managerial position opened and was granted the opportunity.  He managed for four seasons from 2005-2008 and received the Manager of the Year Award in 2006.  The final three baseballs rounding out this group of eight (8) are from Willie’s days at Mets manager.  Randolph has signed all three of the Allan H. Selig baseballs on the sweet spots.  The baseballs also include signatures of 28, 28 and 31.   The first baseball that consists of 28 signatures also includes signatures of Hall of Famers Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, as well as Mets all-time hit leader David Wright.  The second baseball in this group consists of 28 signatures as well and includes signatures of Hall of Famers Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, as well as Mets all-time hit leader David Wright.  The final baseball in this impressive collection includes 31 signatures and includes Hall of Famer Tom Glavine as well as David Wright and Julio Franco.  The group of eight baseballs has been pre-certified by Beckett.
