The highlight of this Official League Ball Guaranteed 18 Innings ball is without question the black ink signature of New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig residing boldly on the lower portion of the sweet spot. His familiar penmanship projects nicely and represents one of the hobby's most coveted signatures. The medium itself, though, adds a dash of charisma that would be welcomed in any display and what makes this ball special is the location of Gehrig’s signature, which is not on the customary side panel, but alone on the sweet spot itself. The ball displays light toning and the stampings, while showing some fading, are still readable. This red and blue-stitched baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (Y43382) for Gehrig’s signature. Please note that JSA, using ultra-violet lighting of their video-spectral comparator, determined that there is a signature of Leo “Gabby” Hartnett on the west panel that has been professionally removed.
