Marilyn Monroe personally owned this engraved silver match holder. Monroe, one of Hollywood’s most ethereal bombshells, entranced generations of American men with her acting performances and modeling chops. With her marriage to Joe DiMaggio, Monroe cemented her status as an icon of 20th century American culture. Sadly, the pressures and trappings of a life lived in the stratosphere took their toll on Monroe, resulting in her tragically premature death at the age of 36 in 1962. This offered match holder measures 1.75 x .5 inches and is engraved on the top with an upper-case “M”. Two sides of the match holder expose a red phosphorous striking surface. A matchbook is presented inside this match holder. This item comes with a notarized letter of provenance from Joe Franklin, Monroe’s biographer.
