Marty McManus spent the 1920’s as the American League’s premier third basemen. Always batting close to the .300 range, McManus played most of his career with the St. Louis Browns and Detroit Tigers. This bat dates to 1927, McManus’ first year in the motor City, during which he batted .268 with 9 home runs and 8 stolen bases. McManus’s Hillerich & Bradsby pro model bat shows outstanding use with a crack in its handle. The barrel shows many ball marks with checking from repeated ball contact which has been secured with four nails. The bat has taken on a beautiful deep brown color from age and displays nicely. An impressive gamer from baseball’s Golden Age. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17132) for the game use.
