Mel Ott was the third member of the 500 Home Run Club, and the first to reach that mark playing in the National League. A lifelong New York Giant, Ott made his debut at the age of 17 in 1926, going on to hit 511 home runs over the next 22 seasons. Ott, the pride of Gretna, Louisiana, led the Giants to the 1933 World Series title and spent the final seven years of his career as either the player-manager or manager of the National League team. A 12-time All-Star, Ott was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951, alongside Jimmie Foxx, the second member of the 500 Home Run Club.

Ott has signed this Official National League Ford C. Frick baseball in black pen on the side panel. Ott’s signature displays beautifully by itself on the panel and his signature has been graded a solid NM-MT 7. The baseball displays light toning due to age and the Ford Frick stamp is bold and the other stamping of the Spalding logo is light but very readable. A terrific Mel Ott single-signed baseball and it comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (M86695), who have graded Ott’s signature a NM-MT 7, with an overall grade of 6.
