Presented here is an animation cel from the 1993 Super Bowl XXVII commercial “The Great Space Erase” that featured a team of Looney Tunes taking on Marvin the Martian and a gang of green goons on the surface of Mars after they stole the world’s supply of Air Jordan sneakers. The duo of “Hare” and “Air” Jordan quickly rub out their adversaries using the “Giant Pencil Eraser Trick” and save the Air Jordans from the clutches of Marvin the Martian and his goons. Jordan is seen on a Martian basketball court holding a giant pencil “erasing” the goons while being aided by Bugs Bunny while Marvin the Martian blows a trumpet. This piece could be considered the precursor to the hit film “Space Jam” that featured Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes that was released in 1996. The vibrantly and gorgeous animation cel displays a vivid richness that give the cell a sense of realism. Jordan’s gorgeous and bold signature in black marker appears on the bottom of the animation cell. The cel rests inside a lovely 24 x 28-inch frame that contains some dents, scratches and marks. Please note that the animation cell is intact and is in pristine condition.
