Easily the most famous boxing star of all time, Muhammad Ali cemented his legacy as one of the best heavyweight fighters of all time, as well as pound for pound, one of the greatest to ever step into the squared circle. Ali a true showman, was never afraid to grab hold of the mic, however it was most certainly his fists that did most of the talking. Some of his notable bouts included his fights with Sonny Liston, his trilogy with Joe Frazier and his bout with George Foreman.

Ali was the one of the most famous athletes of the 20th century – a true iconoclast whose fame transcended mere sports celebrity. He combined unparalleled boxing skill with his drive for social and political activism, including his conscientious objection to the Vietnam War. Ali, a heavyweight, compiled a career record of 50 wins and 6 losses.

This offered robe was worn during the mid-to-late 1970s during Ali’s historic career. This terrycloth robe is white with black trim and displays some slight toning. “MUHAMMAD ALI” is sewn on the back of this terrycloth robe in black tackle twill. Hoodless, and with long sleeves, this robe has the original matching white cloth belt. On the back inside collar is a white “EVERLAST” tag that reads “MADE IN U.S.A.” and “Made Expressly for MUHAMMAD ALI”. This tag was most readily used on equipment of Muhammad Ali that was produced in the mid-to-late 1970’s. This beautiful boxing robe, which features an open chest and two waist pockets, shows good use and soiling consistent with boxing training. This comes with a LOA from noted boxing expert Craig Hamilton and a letter of provenance from Martin Jacobs, who attests in his letter that Ali presented him with this robe (along with trunks) for the Sands Hotel Hall of Fame Museum in Las Vegas.
