Upon the founding of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was selected as one of the honorees for the induction in the inaugural class. The elegant center, who led UCLA to the national titles in each of his three varsity seasons, averaged an incredible 26.4 points and 15.5 rebounds per game during his collegiate career. During Abdul-Jabbar’s three seasons in Westwood, UCLA went 86-2 with both losses decided by a scant two points.
Offered in this lot is Abdul-Jabbar’s personally owned National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame induction medal. This gold medal has a diameter of 3.5 inches and is attached to a red ribbon. Etched in high relief on the front of the medal is “National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame” and an image of a coach delivering instructions to a player. Etched on the back of the medal is “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Founding Class Member / UCLA”. This medal comes in the original NCB Hall of Fame presentation box. This box is octagonal and measures 4 x 5.5 inches at its widest dimensions. This item comes with a signed LOA from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
