This lot closes on June 27, 2021 at 10:00 PM EDT for initial bids. A high-flying shooting guard out of Louisiana State University, “Pistol” Pete Maravich was one of basketball’s most lethal scorers. Playing for his father, Press, at LSU, Maravich averaged an incredible 44.2 points per game in his three years of NCAA ball – this was before the three-point line and the shot clock. He continued his torrid scoring in the pros, where he averaged over 24 points per game in an abbreviated 10-season career. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Tragically, Maravich died of heart failure at the young age of 40 in 1988. Presented here is a 4 x 5 ½ -inch black and white photograph of “Pistol Pete” Maravich signed and inscribed by the Hall of Famer. The photo features a smiling Maravich in his Utah Jazz uniform and is dual signed in blue and black ink and is inscribed “To Koz-Best Wishes” across the photo in blue ink. The signatures and inscription are bold, and the photo features elements of toning and cornering and features “Bob Stephenson 347-4362 about (sic)” in pencil by an unknown hand. The signed and inscribed photo of Hall of Famer “Pistol Pete” Maravich comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (84329236) and is graded AUTHENTIC AUTO.
