Led by QB Matt Flynn and DT Glenn Dorsey, the 2007 LSU football team defeated Tennessee in the SEC Championship to punch their ticket to the 2008 BCS National Championship game against the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. By confronting Ohio State in the title game, it was the first national championship game in the BCS era to feature two teams that had previously both won a BCS national championship. LSU went on to defeat Ohio State 38-24 to become the first school ever to win two BCS championships.

This life-size, 12 inch-long Waterford Crystal football was bestowed upon LSU's legendary baseball coach Skip Bertman, who was by then the University's Athletic Director. Notably, only three of these crystal footballs exist. One is in the LSU Hall-of-Fame, one is used by LSU for spring recruiting and this one. The Crystal football is housed in a "2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS" plexiglas display case and comes with a LOA from Skip Bertman himself.

It is worth noting that the article linked below intrinsically values a similar trophy (one belonging to Alabama) at $30,000. Specifically, the article states, “Athletic department spokesman Jeff Purinton said the Waterford Crystal trophy, valued at $30,000, was on display in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility…”
