Offered is the signatures of 1961’s M&M boys, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, on a posed color photo of the pair in their New York Yankees pinstripes. Maris, at left, has signed his name at the bottom of the photo in blue marker, while Mantle, at right, has also signed his name in blue marker. Both appear in the 13 x 16-inch photo posed with bats in their hands, against a backdrop from spring training. The photo is mounted in a white paper matte with a blue border set within a black plastic frame.

The "M&M Boys" were Yankees teammates from 1960 to 1966. The duo gained national prominence during the 1961 season, when Maris and Mantle, batting third and cleanup (fourth) in the Yankee lineup respectively, both challenged Babe Ruth's 34-year-old single-season record of 60 home runs. The home run lead would change hands between the two teammates numerous times throughout the summer and fueled intense scrutiny of the players by the press. Maris eventually broke the record when he hit his 61st home run on the final day of the season, while Mantle hit 54 before he was forced to pull out of the lineup in September because of an injury. The pair still hold the single season record for combined home runs by a pair of teammates with 115. This item comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (J31722).
