First baseman Bill Buckner’s error on a slow groundball hit by Mookie Wilson in Game 6 will forever be synonymous with the 1986 World Series. Of course, there was so much more to the Mets season, which featured the team winning 108 regular season games while running away with the NL East title. Stars were plentiful in the lineup, with Darryl Strawberry, Keith Hernandez, Lenny Dykstra and Gary Carter leading the charge. The foursome of starting pitchers Dwight Gooden, Ron Darling, Bob Ojeda and Sid Fernandez posted a phenomenal combined record of 66-23. That fateful Game 6 grounder which slipped under Buckner’s glove forced a Game 7, which the Mets went on to win, giving them their much-deserved title as world champions.

Offered here is a Balfour 10K 1986 New York Mets World Series champions ring personally owned by Rusty Staub, who played for the Mets for nine seasons, retiring after the 1985 season. The ring’s face features a larger round diamond centered on a beautiful blue stone. Around the bezel setting are 24 smaller diamonds, giving the ring 25 total diamonds, symbolizing the team’s 25th anniversary. “WORLD CHAMPIONS 1986” can be read around the perimeter. The World Series Commissioner’s Trophy – which reads “NEW YORK METS 1986 WORLD CHAMPIONS - centers the left shank, with the team script logo above it. Below the trophy appears “116 WINS” (for the total of victories including the playoffs) and “NEW YORK”. Staub’s name is displayed at the top of the other shank, above the team’s 25th Anniversary logo. Inside the band, which is an approximate size 11, is marked LGB 10K, and this ring weighs approximately 34.7 grams. This item comes with a LOA from Rusty Staub.
