New York Yankees captain, backstop, and all-around icon Thurman Munson was issued this Major League Baseball lifetime pass “in appreciation of long and meritorious service”. Munson, the 1970 American League Rookie of the Year, was one of the premier catchers of his era, hitting .292 across his 11-year career. Munson eclipsed the .300 batting average in five seasons and put together a three-year stretch of 100 RBI campaigns between 1975 and 1977. Tragically, Munson passed away in an aviation accident during the 1979 MLB season.
This offered pass is gold in color and features the facsimile signatures of Lee MacPhail Jr. and Charles S. Feeney, dating the pass to the 1973-1979 era. It was issued to “Thurman Munson & One”, and it features a crossed bat and ball logo on the top. The pass measures 3.5 x 2 inches and is in excellent condition.
