Offered in this lot are two 1930 FIFA World Cup medals presented to Pablo Dorado, an incisive forward for the Uruguay National Soccer Team during their era of dominance in the 1920’s and early 1930’s. Dorado became the first player to score a goal in a World Cup Final after scoring in the 12th minute against Argentina at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo during Uruguay’s 4-2 victory in the final match. Dorado played his domestic soccer for Uruguay’s Bella Vista and the Argentine outfit River Plate.

The first of these two medals feature a seated woman holding a torch etched in high relief in front of a sun. Etched in high relief on the back of this medal is “Republica Oriental Del Uruguay” and “Centenario 1830-1930” between a laurel wreath. The second medal has a high relief etching of the Tower of Homage perched on the Estadio Centenario tribune. Etched in high relief on the back is “A.U. de F / 1er Campeonato / Mundial / De / Football / Montevideo / 1930” and the Crest of Uruguay. These medals are in good condition.
