The contentious second baseman Wally Backman was an unheralded member but integral member of the 1986 Mets, hitting for a career high .320 batting average on the 108-win team. Backman helped lead the Mets to their second World Series title in franchise history while contributing a .333 batting average during the 1986 Fall Classic. Offered here is an Aladen size “44” jacket worn by Backman during his Mets career. A Mets logo is sewn on the left chest, however it should be noted that this logo is experiencing some peeling. A Mets skyline logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve while an Aladen tag is sewn on the back inside collar. Backman’s number “6” and a crossed-out number “31” are written on the tag in black marker. Backman has signed the chest of this jacket in silver marker. Also included in this lot is a blue Mets wristband. The jacket comes with a LOA from JSA and a LOA from noted game used expert Dave Miedema.
