Offered here is a white Wayne Gretzky game issued Los Angeles Kings home sweater originally given to New York Mets star Darryl Strawberry. Gretzky played for the Kings from 1988 until a 1996 trade sent number “99” to the St. Louis Blues for an 18-game cameo at the end of the season. With the Kings, Gretzky repeatedly found himself at or near the top of the NHL points standings and peaking with a tally of 168 points (54 goals, 114 assists). Gretzky’s impact on the game was so great the league inducted him into the Hockey Hall of Fame immediately upon his 1999 retirement, and the entire league has retired his iconic “99”.

This white home sweater has a large Kings logo patch sewn on the center of the chest and a captain’s “C” logo sewn on the left chest in gray and black tackle twill. “GRETZKY” is sewn across the back shoulders in gray and black tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. His number “99” is sewn on the back of the jersey in gray and black tackle twill and on both sleeves in gray and white tackle twill. Two CCM logos and two NHL logos are sewn on the back tail, while a fight strap is sewn inside the jersey. Gretzky has signed the chest logo in black marker, inscribing his “99” in addition to his signature. This size “54” jersey comes with a LOA signed by Darryl Strawberry. A LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication covers Gretzky’s signature, and a COA from Beckett covers Strawberry’s signature on his LOA. Please note that despite Darryl Strawberry's LOA indicating that this is a game used jersey, we believe this is actually a game issued jersey based in part that the fight strap is still attached to the jersey.
