Charles Fazzino is a world renowned artist who specializes in three-dimensional artwork. He uses silkscreen serigraphs in a very labor intensive 3D pop art style, requiring several time consuming stages to complete. An original flat drawing is sent to a silkscreen printer who spends months hand-printing several copies of the original work. The flat sheets return to Fazzino's studio where more than 40 artists work under his direction, all by hand, to cut out the elements from cutout sheets and mount them to create the 3D layered effect, then are finished off by hand with glitter and Swarovski crystals.

Fazzino’s 3D technique lends itself perfectly to the creation of diorama art, the art process of creating 3-D models encased in glass. Essentially, these 3D dioramas are constructed from multiple original 3D canvas paintings, with each 3D original art painting created separately and then joined with the others, resulting in a brand new composition.

This diorama reflects the old Yankee Stadium, with images of many Yankee greats, an emphasis on the last season of 2008. Raised 3-D drawings of Yogi Berra, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris are on the left with Phil Rizzuto, Derek Jeter and Joe DiMaggio along the right side. Several New York attractions are also listed as well as the more popular concessions at the Stadium. Many fans are represented, carrying signs and invoking memories of Yankee great players and moments.

This impressive work has the original canvas mounted inside a box frame with the 3-D pieces applied with care over the original canvas. It is an amazing to witness the raised 3-D image with the same image below. Truly eye catching!

While working with many different subjects, Fazzino is embedded with sports, performing his 3-D pop art at all the Super Bowl over the last decade, and many MLB All-Star games and World Series. This piece has hundreds of different New York landmarks and Yankee Stadium representations, measures 5.5'L x 4.5'H x 4.5”D and would certainly be the conversation piece in your sports room. The piece captures the tremendous history of Yankee Stadium, with all the memories of those 26 World Championships.
