The first of Lebron James’ 16 Sports Illustrated covers dated February 18, 2002 features James pictured in an Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary high school jersey with a headline reading: “The Chosen One: High School Junior LeBron James would be an NBA lottery pick right now.” James’ Fighting Irish team went 27-0 in his freshman season cruising to the Division II state title and repeated as state champs in his sophomore season. During his junior season James became the first underclass high school basketball player to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine almost immediately becoming more famous than most of the professionals in the NBA. This XXL ONSPORTS Green and Las Vegas Gold Fighting Irish mesh jersey has James’ number 23 on the front and back and a 9-11 ribbon patch on the upper left side. The Fighting Irishman logo is on a small patch attached at the apex of a Kelly green V-neck collar with green and gold side trim. The ONSPORTS black, silver and yellow, manufacturers XXL is attached on the left front tail and can be seen in many photographs of James taken when he was at St. Vincent St.-Mary high school. Jersey shows game worn wear and comes with a three-page Certificate of Authenticity with a grade of 95 from Collectibles Palace LLC with matching holograms # A02838 on the jersey and letter as well as letters of reference from an employee at St. Vincent-St. Mary high school and authorized purchaser and re-seller. Also included is an LOA from Dave Miedema.
