You'd have to stretch your memory to find a young player that demonstrated as much promise and delivered more than Los Angeles' Mike Trout. In 2011 the 19 year-old played 90 games with the Arkansas Travelers before the Angels called him up to The Show. The "Millville Meteor" demonstrated his power by hitting five home runs in 40 games before the season closed. It was a taste of things to come as Trout simply dominated the American League the following season, batting .326 and won the Rookie of the Year Award. This Rawlings A889S bat is uncracked and exhibits excellent use. Ball marks, stitch impressions and white leather scuffs attest to the heavy use Trout put this stick to. One tremendous ball mark can be seen just above and to the right of his signature. Cleat marks can be seen on the barrel and the lower handle has been customized with spiral adhesive take to enhance the grip. Mota Stick is on the lower handle and pine tar is found on the upper handle. Rawlings factory stamping on the knob end shows the model number "A889S", Trout's order "073" and year "11". The rookie phenom has signed the bat in silver ink on the barrel and added "G/U" above his name. Because he played in both the minors and majors during the '11 season, it's not known which games he is referring to in his inscription. During his rookie season, he used only a handful of Rawlings bats, as they tried to convert Trout to a bat deal, but he decided to not switch over permanently, instead choosing Old Hickory. PSA/DNA sticker number 1B05402 is affixed to the knob and T11269 is affixed to the barrel end. This is a great piece from the earliest days of MLB's hottest young star. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
