John would post a record of 5-3 with an ERA of 2.93 and 28 strikeouts during the season. The presented jersey, worn by both men during the 1986 season, as was a common practice that teams recycled jerseys to other players, and is a seven-button white heavy mesh with navy pinstripes. The iconic interlocking “NY” Yankees logo appears in navy tackle twill on the left chest of the jersey. A black armband on the left sleeve was worn to commemorate the death of Roger Maris, who passed away on December 14, 1985. A Wilson manufacturer’s tag with a size “46” flag appears on the left front tail of the jersey. A white swatch labeled “Baylor 86 2” is attached to the inside collar.
