Lot #2984: 1996 Andruw Jones Game Used & Signed Atlanta Braves #25 Road Jersey (Henderson & Beckett)

Description

Presented here is a 1996 game used Atlanta Braves road jersey worn by Andruw Jones during his rookie season and signed by the Curacaoan slugger. Jones made his MLB debut on August 15, 1996, when he was 19 years old. Jones would finish the season with an average of .217 with 23 hits, 5 home runs, and 13 RBIs, but it was in the postseason when Jones showed the greatness that was to come. The Braves faced the New York Yankees in the 1996 World Series, and Jones would become the youngest player to ever hit a home run in postseason play and just the second player to ever homer in his first two World Series at-bats.

The presented gray six-button heavy mesh jersey features "ATLANTA" in cursive red-on-navy tackle twill with a tomahawk paraph across the front of the jersey. Red and navy trim line the front placket and run the length of the jersey and encircle the collar. Red and navy stripes are found on the sleeves. A Russell Athletic MLB AUTHENTIC DIAMOND COLLECTION size "42" manufacturer's tag with a "100% POLYESTER" flag appears on the left front tail. A Russell Athletic "R" logo appears in navy and red on the right sleeve. "A.JONES" appears across the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill on a matching gray nameplate. Jones signed the number "5" on the back of the jersey with a black marker. The signature is clear, and the jersey displays minor evidence of game use, containing a small brown stain on the rear tail, three faint stains on the left sleeve, and a small stain on the right sleeve. The 1996 Atlanta Braves road jersey worn by Andruw Jones during the 1996 season and signed by the former Braves slugger comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature and an LOA from noted game used jersey expert William Henderson.
