The inimitable Cal Ripken Jr. wore this orange Orioles “Cooperstown Collection” alternate jersey on July 18th, 2001, during his final MLB season! Ripken appeared in this game, a 6-4 home loss to the Texas Rangers, as a ninth inning pinch hitter. Ripken hit 14 homers, with 68 RBI and 16 doubles, in 2001. The lifelong Oriole was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
This offered jersey is an orange pullover, with “Orioles” and Ripken’s number “8” sewn on the chest in black and white tackle twill. “RIPKEN” is sewn across the back shoulders in black tackle twill. A second “8” is sewn on the jersey’s back in black and white tackle twill. A Cooperstown Collection tag and a “7-18-01” tag are sewn on the front left tail of this historic jersey. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal accompanying this game used jersey.
