Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this John Norton Memorial C.H.S.A.A. Championship Playoffs MVP award in 1964, his junior year at Power Memorial Academy. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, led Power on a 71-game winning streak and three-straight C.H.S.A.A. titles in his time at the New York City institution. This trophy consists of two parts, a 7 x 7-inch base with a 6-inch high pedestal, and a 14-inch tall statuette of a basketball player. The total height of this trophy measures approximately 20 inches tall. A detachable plaque on the pedestal reads “John Norton / Memorial Trophy / Awarded To The / Most Valuable Player / Of The / 1964 C.H.S.A.A. / Championship / Playoff”. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
