Lot #1: 1968 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Worn UCLA Varsity Letterman's Jacket (Abdul-Jabbar LOA)

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the big man on campus at the University of California, Los Angeles from the moment he enrolled. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, led the UCLA freshman team to a resounding 75-60 victory over the top-ranked UCLA varsity team, scoring 31 points with 21 rebounds, to set the tone for his next three seasons in Westwood. Kareem led the UCLA Bruins to three straight NCAA titles, averaging 26.4 points and 15.5 rebounds per game across his collegiate career.

Offered here is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s UCLA varsity letterman’s jacket from his junior season of 1967-68. Abdul-Jabbar was the consensus best player in the country that season, leading UCLA to a 29-1 record and the national title while averaging 26.2 points and 16.5 rebounds per game. Abdul-Jabbar’s junior season accolades include the Helms Player of the Year award, the Final Four Most Outstanding Player, the USBWA Player of the Year award, and a consensus First Team All-America selection.

This stunning and historically significant letterman’s jacket is navy with tan leather sleeves. The collar, sleeves, and waist are accented with a navy-yellow-navy design. A UCLA “C” patch is sewn on the left chest of this jacket. A Whiting size “44” tag is sewn on the back inside collar of the jacket. The buttons are etched with “HL Whiting Los Angeles”. This jacket comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
