Lot #3: 1968 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar UCLA Bruins NCAA Basketball National Championship Ring (Abdul-Jabbar LOA)

Description

In 2008, UCLA honored the 1968 NCAA Champion men’s basketball team with a pregame reception and halftime ceremony during the March 8th game between UCLA and California at Pauley Pavilion. 10 members of that championship squad and members of the coaching staff attended and received championship rings. Originally, the 29-1 1968 championship squad were presented with watches as opposed to rings.

Offered here is the very ring presented to Hall of Famer and the NBA’s all-time leading goal scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 2008. Known back in 1968 as Lew Alcindor, Kareem was the best player in the country and led UCLA to three-straight NCAA titles in his three varsity seasons. The front of this ring “Ucla” etched across the center of a large blue stone in gold, surrounded by “NATIONAL CHAMPIONS” and “1968” in gold raised relief with a black background. One shank has “ABDUL-JABBAR”, “33” and two basketball players in raised relief. The opposite shank has “BRUINS”, “29-1” and a bear all in raised relief. “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar” is etched on the inner band. This ring is in excellent overall condition and is an approximate size 11 ½ weighing approximately 26.2 grams. This comes with a signed LOA from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
