Before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar starred for the UCLA Bruins, the skilled big man plied his trade for Power Memorial Academy in New York between 1961 and 1965. Abdul-Jabbar led Power on a record breaking 71-game winning streak and three straight New York City Catholic championships, foreshadowing his successes in the NCAA and NBA. Offered here is Abdul-Jabbar’s 1964 La Salle Alumni Festival Champion trophy. This trophy consists of a white 3 x 3-inch base topped by a gold-colored statuette of a basketball player. The trophy measures just over 5 inches tall. A placard on the base reads “La Salle Basketball Festival 1964 Champion”. This trophy comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
