Lot #209: 2008 Alex Rodriguez Game Used & Signed Louisville Slugger C271L Model Bat Used For Career Home Run #521 Tying Ted Williams & William McCovey (PSA/DNA GU 10 & Beckett)

Description

On April 14, 2008, Alex Rodriguez joined baseball immortals Ted Williams and Willie McCovey by hitting his 521st career home run. The blast that tied him on the all-time home run list with those two legends came in the 1st inning against the Tampa Bay Rays in Tropicana Field. With two out and no one on, A-Rod hit an Andy Sonnanstine pitch over the left field wall to join Williams and McCovey with number 521. This is the bat he used to hit that milestone home run.

The Louisville Slugger C271L model bat is un-cracked and shows heavy use. Many ball marks with stitch impressions and white leather ball scuffs are found on the left, front and back barrel and cleat impression abound on all sides. The imprint of a weighted batting donut is present, and a moderate coat of Mota Stick has been applied to the handle. A-Rod has signed the barrel and inscribed, “Game Used 4-14-08 Career HR #521 tying Ted Williams + Willie McCovey” in silver marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (H53568) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (AO7885) for the signature.
