Lot #53: 2009 Alex Rodriguez Game Used, Signed & Inscribed Rawlings Fielders Glove Used For Regular Season, Playoffs & World Series (MLB Authenticated, Rodriguez LOA & Beckett)

Description

New York Yankees prodigious slugger Alex Rodriguez used this Rawlings fielder’s glove during the 2009 regular season and postseason. Rodriguez was among the best hitters in baseball in 2009, hitting 30 homers with 100 RBI and 14 stolen bases. This was Rodriguez’s 12th of 13 consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs and 100 RBI. Rodriguez is tied with Hank Aaron at 15 seasons for the most years in a career with 30 or more homers.

The Yankees, buoyed by the offensive firepower of Rodriguez, Robinson Cano, Mark Teixeira, and Derek Jeter, raced to a 103-59 regular season record and the American League East Division title. Rodriguez was a dynamo in the postseason, hitting .455 and .429 in the first two rounds against the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels with a combined six home runs and 12 RBI. The Yankees faced the Philadelphia Phillies in the Fall Classic for the first time since sweeping the Phils’ in the 1950 World Series. Rodriguez continued to rake in the World Series, collecting six RBI and a home run as the Yankees defeated the Phillies in six games. While his batting average was a solid .250, Rodriguez reached base to the tune of a .423 on-base percentage. In the clinching Game 6, Rodriguez went 1-2 with two walks, two runs, and a stolen base.

This offered glove, authenticated by MLB to Game 6 of the 2009 World Series, is uniform black with a red Rawlings tag sewn on the wrist. An oval Rawlings logo is located on the thumb, which has “A-Rod” embroidered on the outside in black. A Rawlings wordmark is embroidered on the back of the index finger slot and a “Gold Glove Co.” tag is sewn on the back of the pinky slot. Rodriguez has signed the palm side of the glove in blue marker, inscribing “#13”, “AROD”, and “Game Used 2009 World Series + Playoffs”. This historic glove comes with a LOA signed by Rodriguez and there is a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A56143) for Rodriguez's signature on the glove. A COA from Beckett Authentication Services (H39778) authenticates Rodriguez’s signature on the LOA. The glove has a Rodriguez hologram and an MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 729465) applied to the palm side of the pinky slot. Please note that these holograms have eroded over time, but the MLB hologram’s alphanumeric code is still legible.
