Lot #227: 2010 Alex Rodriguez Game Used & Signed Nike Batting Gloves Used For Career Home Run #598 (MLB Authenticated, Rodriguez LOA & Beckett)

Description

Offered is a pair of batting gloves worn by New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez when he hit career home run 598. Career home run number 598 came on July 18, 2010 when the slugger led off the bottom of the seventh with a fly ball to left center on the first pitch of the inning from Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Andy Sonnanstine at Yankee Stadium.

A-Rod has signed and inscribed the white Nike batting gloves on the palm of each glove in blue marker, inscribing “HR #598” beneath his signature on both gloves. Both gloves have Rodriguez’s personal logo on the top of the wristband, and the number “13” in silver and white embroidered on a black patch.  Both gloves have a blue Nike swoosh on the index finger. There are dirt stains on both gloves and the right thumb has white athletic trainer’s tape wrapped around it.

At the conclusion of his 22-year Major League Baseball career in 2016, Rodriguez retired with 696 career home runs, fourth all-time behind Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714). These pair of gloves come with a signed LOA from Alex Rodriguez for the game use and have individual COAs from Beckett Authentication (H39789 & H39788) for the signatures. Additionally, there is a COA from Beckett Authentication (H39790) for Rodriguez’s signature on the signed LOA. The gloves also come with a pair of MLB Authenticated holograms (FJ095654 & FJ09655) which date the pair to the July 18, 2010 game.
