Lot #202: 2013 Alex Rodriguez Game Used & Signed Nike Batting Gloves Used For Record Breaking Grand Slam #24 (MLB Authenticated & Rodriguez LOA)

Description

Not only is former New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez one of the most feared home run hitters in the history of Major League Baseball, he broke a 75-year-old record for career grand slams established by the Iron Horse himself, Lou Gehrig. On September 20, 2013, Rodriguez hit his 24th career grand slam, breaking Gehrig’s career record of 23, in a 5-1 Yankees win over the San Francisco Giants at the new Yankee Stadium, hitting his seventh homer of the 2013 season in the seventh inning off George Kontos to right center, with two outs and the game tied 1-1. (It was also his 654th career home run.)  A-Rod finished his 22-year career at the end of 2016 with 25 Grand Slams, followed by Gehrig with 23 and Manny Ramirez with 21.

Rodriguez has signed his name in black marker on both gloves and inscribed “Game Used 9/20/13 GS #24” in black marker on the palm of the both gloves beneath his signature.  The white and gray, leather and mesh Nike batting gloves have dirt stains on the palms and fingers of both gloves.  There is a black Nike swoosh logo on the top of each glove, along with the legend “Diamond Elite” in black plastic on the top of both wristbands. This pair of batting gloves come with MLB Authenticated holograms (EK800920 & EK 800919), which dates the pair to the September 20, 2013 game, and a signed LOA from Rodriguez.
