Lot #57: 2014 Kansas City Royals American League Championship Players Ring- Herrera (PSA)

Description

The 2014 Kansas City Royals proved that a team can win – and win big – relying on its defense, speed and shutdown bullpen. Salvador Perez (catcher), Eric Hosmer (first base) and Alex Gordon (left field) all won Gold Glove Awards, while Alcides Escobar (shortstop) finished a runner-up. Escobar, along with Jarrod Dyson and Lorenzo Cain all had speed to burn, causing havoc on the basepaths. Relievers Wade Davis, Greg Holland and Kelvin Herrera each proved nearly unhittable, as they all posted an ERA of 1.44 or lower. The Royals swept through the Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Baltimore Orioles (going a combined 8-0) to win the American League pennant. Kansas City would lose to the San Francisco Giants – in seven games – in the World Series.

Offered here is a Jostens 10K gold 2014 Kansas City Royals American League champions player’s ring that was presented to pitcher Kelvin Herrera. A large “KC” logo – filled with diamonds and accented in blue – centers the face, with a baseball field design background and additional diamonds appearing. “AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” reads around the perimeter in relief lettering. One side of the ring features an American League logo, along with three additional diamonds. “ROYALS 2014” appears at the bottom. The opposite side boasts of the team’s “MLB PLAYOFF RECORD” 8-0 start to the postseason. The name “HERRERA” is shown above, with a Royals logo highlighted in blue below. “© JOSTENS 10K” appears inside the band of this approximate size 10 ring. This item weighs approximately 49.0 grams. This ring comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AF09615).
