Lot #6: 1999 New York Yankees World Series Championship Ring Presented To Jeff Nelson (Nelson LOA)

Description

Led by Hall-of-Famer Derek Jeter, the 1999 New York Yankees featured a very deep, and potent, offense. Jeter hit .349 to go along with 134 runs scored and 102 runs batted in, but he had plenty of help in the lineup. Bernie Williams (.342 average, 116 runs, 115 RBIs), Tino Martinez (28 home runs, 105 RBIs), Paul O’Neill (110 RBIs) and Chuck Knoblauch (120 runs scored, 28 stolen bases) all had big years. On the mound, all five starting pitchers won at least 11 games, with Orlando Hernandez leading the way, going 17-9. Closer Mariano Rivera finished with 45 saves and a 1.83 ERA. After winning the AL East with a record of 98-64, the Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves in the postseason (recording a combined mark of 11-1) to win the World Series.

Offered here is a 1999 New York Yankees World Series championship ring that was presented to relief pitcher Jeff Nelson. This Balfour 14K gold beauty features the team’s famed “NY” logo – compromised of diamonds – prominently displayed on the face, as additional diamonds fill in the surrounding area. Around the outer perimeter appear even more diamonds, separating the numbers “19” and “99” which signify the title year of 1999. One side of the ring displays a Yankees team logo and stadium façade, while reading “THE CENTURY’S TEAM” and “25TH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP”.  An image of the Commissioner’s Trophy can be seen rising out of Yankee Stadium on the ring’s opposite side. Also displayed are the name “NELSON”, his number “43” and the word “TRADITION”. Inside the band appear the engravings “Balfour ©14K”, “Jeff Nelson” and “GRIND IT”. This item is an approximate size 11 ½ and weighs approximately 50.7 grams. Includes the wooden presentation box, with glass etched “NEW YORK YANKEES 1999 WORLD CHAMPIONS”. This ring comes with a LOA from Jeff Nelson.
