In 1962, the New York Yankees won their third consecutive American League pennant as American League MVP Mickey Mantle led the Yanks to a 96-66 record, five games ahead of the second place Minnesota Twins. They faced the San Francisco Giants in the World Series, the first matchup between these two teams since the Giants absconded to the West Coast. The Yankees won the series in seven games, as Bobby Richardson snagged a Willie McCovey line drive with runners on the corners and two outs in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the Yanks seven game series victory.

Former Major League pitcher Ralph Terry, who began his career with the New York Yankees in 1956 and was traded to the Kansas City Athletics in 1957, was then traded back to the Yankees in May of 1959 where he would become a key starter for the 1961 and 1962 World Series title teams. The 1962 season saw Terry post a career-high and American League high 23 wins and his 2-1 record with a 1.80 ERA in the World Series against the Giants earned him MVP honors of the 1962 Fall Classic. Terry also led the AL in starts (39) and innings pitched (298.2).

This 14-karat gold ring was made by Balfour and features a large diamond in the center of a gold baseball diamond. “NEW YORK YANKEES” and “WORLD CHAMPIONS” surround the center diamond in a circular pattern. Both shanks are identical and have the Yankees top hat on bat logo in raised relief and “1962” on the top. The inside band of this size 11 ¼ ring has “Ralph W Terry” and “BALFOUR 14K” engraved.
