Lot #20: 1995 Cal Ripken Jr. Game Worn, Signed, and Inscribed Pair of Pre-Game Nike Cleats From Consecutive Game #2130 (Ripken LOA)

Description

Before Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. could break Lou Gehrig’s historic consecutive games played streak, he would have to tie him. That’s exactly what Ripken did when he suited up for the 2,130th consecutive time on September 5th, 1995 against the California Angels. These are the very cleats worn pre-game by Cal when he tied Lou Gehrig’s historic consecutive games streak on September 5th, 1995. These size 11 Nike all-black cleats have the Nike swoosh in orange on the sides and black tongues that have that have a white patch that reads “SHARK” with a black Nike swoosh above. “NIKE” is on the heels in white and each cleat has rubber spikes. Ripken has signed the outsides of each cleat towards the heel in bold contrasting silver marker and inscribed on each “2130”. There is a yellow identification tag clipped to the left shoe that reads “005.001.012ab 2130 cleats bag19”. These cleats display excellent game use with dirt marks and abrasion marks and come directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany these historic cleats.
