Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. had another solid season in 1997 where he hit 17 home runs, had 84 RBI and maintained a solid .270 batting average. Ripken helped lead the Baltimore Orioles to the American League title, where they ultimately advanced to the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Indians. Offered here is the jersey worn by Ripken during the 1997 postseason. This jersey comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and has been photo matched to the August 30th, 1997 game by Sports Investors Authentication, where Ripken scored a run and drew a walk in the Orioles’ 13-6 loss to the New York Mets at Camden Yards.

This home white Russell Athletic button-down home Orioles jersey has “Orioles and a paraph sewn on across the front in black and orange tackle twill. Ripken’s number “8” is sewn on the center left chest in orange and black tackle twill. Black piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons and the Russell Athletic size 48 tag, a “1997” tag and “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA BODY LENGTH” flags are sewn on the front left tail. The back has “RIPKEN” and “8” are sewn on in black and orange tackle twill. The sleeves have black piping on the ends with the left sleeve having the Orioles bird logo patch and a “200 BALTIMORE” bicentennial patch, while the right sleeve has the “JACKIE ROBINSON 50 1947-1997” patch worn by all teams in 1997 to honor the late Hall of Famer. This jersey was signed by Ripken in black marker on the front below the paraph end and comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal that will accompany this item. This jersey also comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched this jersey to the August 30th, 1997 game.
