Lot #125: 2008 Clayton Kershaw Game Used Los Angeles Dodgers Road Jersey With 50th Anniversary Patch (Dodgers-Steiner LOA & MLB Authentication)

Description

The Kershaw story began at Highland Park High where he averaged more than 2 strike outs per inning and pitched an all-strike out perfect game in the playoffs before it was prematurely ended out of mercy for the opposing team. USA Today proclaimed him "High School Pitcher of the Year" and the Dodgers shelled out 2.3 million to get his signature on a contract. Kershaw and his 95 MPH fastball proceeded quickly up the minor league ladder until that famous spring training game against Boston in 2008. In what has now become part of MLB history, Kershaw threw a curve ball past Sean Casey that started behind his back and broke so hard it crossed the plate as a strike. Broadcast on live TV, the pitch left broadcaster Vince Scully speechless and made baseball fans salivate waiting for the kid's big-league debut.

When he was first promoted to the major leagues during his rookie 2008 season, Clayton Kershaw wore number 54, but eventually switched to his now familiar number 22 during that first season. This offered button-down gray road Dodgers’ jersey was worn by Kershaw during he 2008 season and features “Los Angeles” in cursive script and a paraph sewn on across the chest in blue tackle twill, with Kershaw’s number “22” sewn on the left center chest in red tackle twill. The Majestic Authentic size 50” tag is screen-printed on the lower front tail. The back has “KERSHAW” and his number “22” below, both stitched directly on in blue tackle twill. The Dodgers interlocking “LA” is sewn on the left sleeve in blue tackle twill and the Los Angeles 50th Anniversary patch worn during the 2008 season, is on the right sleeve. This jersey comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (LH026351) and a LOA from Steiner Sports (61814) for the game use. Please note that MLB Authenticated has classified this jersey as “Team Issued” a common designation for items collected from the team and not directly from the player.
