Presented here is a program from the Reunion of Olympic Gold Medal Champions and Greatest Sports Legends held at the Sands Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City from June of 1996. The event was held to honor some of the most celebrated athletes in sports history and featured Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson and two-time Olympic Decathlon gold medalist Bob Mathias. The event honored former Olympic gold medalists such as Joe Frazier, Michael Spinks, Dave Wottle, Mitch Gaylord and former NFL running back Tony Dorsett. The cover of the white program features “SANDS HOTEL & CASINO ATLANTIC CITY” across the top in red script. “REUNION OF OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL CHAMPIONS AND GREATEST SPORTS LEGENDS” in red across the front of the cover. The right side of the cover features illustrations of various sports in blue and white running the vertical length of the right side. The inside of the program features short biographies of the honorees and was signed by 23 gold medalists and stars, including key signatures from Mitch Gaylord, Michael Spinks, Baseball Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson, Bob Mathias, Ralph Boston, Valerie Brisco-Hooks, Milt Campbell, Dr. Cathy Ferguson, Dick Fosbury, Bruce Furniss, Brian Goodell, Olga Korbut, Bob Hayes, Drew Pearson, Dr. Sammy Lee, Steve Lundquist, Patricia McCormick, Billy Mills, Al Oerter, Bob Richards, Bob Seagren, Daniela Silivas, Wyomia Tyus, Dave Wottle, Angel Cordero, Jr., and former NFL running back Tony Dorsett. The signatures are bold and were signed in black ink. The program features stains on the left side of the cover and stains on the back. The corners show early elements of cornering. A fantastic tribute to some of America’s most storied athletes, the item comes with an LOA from JSA for the signatures.
