Lot #3613: 1960 John F. Kennedy Original Presidential Campaign Poster

Description

Presented here is an original 13 x 18-inch John F. Kennedy campaign poster from his 1960 Presidential election. Kennedy would defeat Vice Presidential incumbent Richard Nixon in a hotly contested and narrowly won election in 1960. Kennedy served as the 35th president of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. He served at the height of the Cold War, and most of his presidency dealt with managing relations with the Soviet Union. A member of the Democratic Party, Kennedy represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate prior to becoming president. This presented campaign poster features a large portrait bust of Kennedy over a vibrant red, white, and blue colored patriotic montage. “KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT” features prominently in bold white letters across the top of the poster. “LEADERSHIP FOR THE 60’s” is labeled in white across the bottom. The poster features a vertical tear on the bottom, a small brown stain on the top, and numerous creases due to folding. This item offers a rare glimpse of a president and a country on the cusp of change.
