Lot #3416: 1963 Dave Robinson Official College All-Star Game Sweater (Player LOA)

Description

Known as the Chicago Charities College All-Star Game, the contest was played every year from 1934 to 1976 and was played at Soldier Field in Chicago. The game featured the reigning NFL champions facing off against a collection of College All-Stars. The 1963 game pitted the College All-Stars against the Green Bay Packers, helmed by legendary coach Vince Lombardi. The All-Stars managed to defeat the Packers 20-17, the last time the collegiate athletes would beat a reigning NFL champion team during the then-annual match. Hall of Famer Dave Robinson played in the game against the team that he would eventually play for and make his mark in the NFL, the Packers. This presented five-button white cardigan All-Star sweater came from the personal collection of Dave Robinson and was given to him for participating in the 1963 College All-Stars Game. The sweater features a felt patch labeled “ALL STARS 1963” in red, white, and blue felt on the left breast of the sweater. A King O’Shea manufacturer’s tag with a size “48” flag is located inside the collar. The sweater contains a small brown stain above the front left pocket, a small stain next to the All-Star patch, and a stain on the left chest. The 1963 College All-Star Game sweater worn by Hall of Famer Dave Robinson comes with an LOA from Dave Robinson and comes from his collection.
