Lot #193: New York Yankees Cap Used By Alex Rodriguez To Hit Career Home Run #600 On 8/4/10 (Rodriguez LOA)

Description

Alex Rodriguez wore this navy New York Yankees cap when he became the youngest player in history to hit 600 home runs. Rodriguez reached that milestone during the August 4th, 2010 game. This offered cap is a size 7 ¼ and was worn in this historic game. The cap features the Yankees iconic interlocking “NY” logo embroidered on the front in white, and the MLB logo on the back embroidered in white. Rodriguez’s number “13” is inscribed in silver marker on the underside of the bill.

Alex Rodriguez is the youngest player in American League history to hit 600 homers as he did so at 35 years, 8 days old. The home run he hit on August 4, 2010 was his 17th homer of the 2010 season off Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Shaun Marcum at Yankees Stadium. With one man on and two outs in the bottom half of the first inning, the Yankees third baseman took Marcum’s 2-0 pitch deep to center field.

Rodriguez has signed the bill of the cap in silver marker, inscribing “Game Worn-600 HR 8-4-2010” in addition to his signature. At the conclusion of his 22-year Major League Baseball career in 2016, Rodriguez retired with 696 career home runs, fourth all-time behind Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755) and Babe Ruth (714). This cap comes with a LOA signed by Rodriguez.
