1997-98 was the year Kobe Bryant came into his own as a player. Although several young players garnered the comparison to Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant actually lived up to the comparison. He more than doubled his point average per game to 15.4 and the fans voted him to the All-Star Game, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to make the squad.

This pair of black, white and grey Adidas sneakers date from that pivotal year of 1997-98 when Kobe proved he was indeed the real deal. Each sneaker base Kobe's number "8" embroidered in white on the bottom of each tongue. The white laces are still present as is the Adidas tagging on the inside of each shoe. The pair show nice game use with light wear to the tread and scuff marks expected on game worn sneakers. There is some yellow adhesive visible on some of the zig-zag relief designs on the side of the sneakers. Kobe has signed each shoe on the outside of the ankle in black marker adding his number "8". This item includes a LOA from the Los Angeles Lakers and a LOA from JSA.
