Offered in this lot is a military presidential appointment document signed by both Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft in 1904. The document promotes Herman W. Schull, an 1899 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, to the rank of “Captain in the Artillery Corps”. Schull would serve the United States Army with valor, retiring as a Brigadier General and earning the Army Distinguished Service medal in World War I. This document has been signed by Theodore Roosevelt as President, and by Taft as secretary of war. Both signatures have been written on black pen on the date of December 21st, 1904. This document is in good condition and comes with a LOA from JSA.
