Graded 30 GD 2 by SGC. Hall of Famer. This is the only example at its tier (with none graded higher) among a scant total of four copies recorded in SGC's census reporting. This 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece features a young Ty Cobb on this extremely scarce rookie card. The postcard's caption reads, "Tyrus Cobb, Of Royston, Georgia, - Age 21, Member of the Detroit Base Ball Team, and the greatest ball player of the year in America. - From Detroit Seamless Steel Tubes Co. - Detroit, Mich. - Makers of the Famous - 'Detroit' Locomotive Flue." The card's reverse is devoid of any notations or postal cancellations as it was never used as mail correspondence. Surface toning on this collectible restricts it from being assessed at a higher grading tier. Here's an incredible piece - depicting Detroit Tigers legend Ty Cobb - in pleasing Good condition.
