Boston sportswriter Jake Morse started Baseball Magazine in 1908 and by 1916, from which these issues date from, the magazine had evolved into a hefty 125 page monthly. Prized by collectors and historians today, these illustration-laden issues are a priceless window on the game’s golden era. Within this deluxe bound volume can be found contemporary articles on Boston’s rising young star, Babe Ruth, the blockbuster Christy Mathewson trade and a poinient interview with Honus Wagner facing the twilight of his career. Each issue is securely bound into this custom hardcover volume retaining their colorfully illustrated covers, which are highly collectible in their own right. The book shows moderate use with some staining to the leather covers and spine wear and the eight issues within are in very good and complete condition. A great opportunity to experience baseball’s deadball era unfolding as it happened.
