Presented here is a photograph of Lefty Williams, an ace pitcher for the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. Williams is best known for his involvement in the 1919 Chicago Black Sox Scandal, as he finished the Fall Classic with a record of 0-3. Williams, who went 23-11 during the regular season, was banned from baseball by Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis after the 1920 season. Williams is pictured here in his White Sox uniform, staring placidly at the camera. This photograph measures 6 ½ x 8 ½ inches, and has a newspaper clipping of Williams taped to the back. This photograph displays wear consistent with its age, but is otherwise in sterling condition.
